Window Bird Feeder Basics

Welcome to our website. Here you will be able to find suppliers of all types of window bird feeders and accessories. Watching the birds from the comfort of your own home coming right to the window is a unique relaxing experience.

Mounting one window bird feeder at home, filling it with some seeds just takes a few minutes and once the birds accept the feeders and get comfortable with them you will enjoy every moment. What a gratifying experience to take the morning coffee or to be working at your computer and look to the window and see several birds perched eating sunflower  or safflower seeds. And why not keep more than one window bird feeder filled with different types of seeds to attract a variety of birds?

You can choose a window bird feeder that is placed inside a windowsill or one that is attached to the glass of the window usually via suction cups or with Velcro. A windowsill feeder is generally bigger and some of them, the solarium feeders, prolonged into the house through an open window. The feeders attached to the window are generally smaller and can fit any size or type of window.

Among the benefits of a window bird feeder is the possibility of watch the birds more closely than with other types of feeder. Also if there are squirrel around your area, you can have an economical solution for dealing with this problem simply finding one window that squirrel cannot jump to such as one window with no tree branches close by. Each type of feeder will carry its own advantages also. “On-window” feeders allow you to use multiple feeders on a given window and have a better squirrel resistance. It’s more likely they reach a windowsill than an “on-window” feeder. On the other hand, windowsill feeders have larger seed trays that can accommodate a larger number of birds and bigger seed capacity than the first type of feeder. One feature not to be overlooked on this type of feeder is that they often include one-way mirrors that allow the birds to be seen while they cannot see you.

Mounting an “on-window” bird feeder is very easy and usually don’t take more than 30 seconds. You can do it via suction cups often included with them. Just be sure the window glass is clean and wash the suction cups with soap and warm water before applying. They should stay put indefinitely. Be sure that you squeeze out air bubbles pressing with thumb from the center towards the outside. If you don’t feel confident with the resistance of the suction cups you can use some industrial Velcro to attach the feeder to the glass.

A windowsill feeder will be placed on the sill of a window, either on the inside sill of an open window or the outside sill of a closed one. A solarium feeder sits on the inside sill of the window just like a window air conditioner. Outside windowsill feeders are secured by tension poles allowing the window to be completely closed.

The placement of the window bird feeder is also important to attract your small flying friends.  You should place the feeder in a window facing an area attractive to the birds and easily viewed from inside of the house. You can place it in your kitchen, office or your bedroom windows. Teach your kids about birds or just appreciate birds without leaving your recliner.
